About the Owner
Ruben aka “Big Roob” was born & raised in Grand Prairie, TX & grew a passion for art as soon as he could draw. He did his first tattoo at the age of 12 & has been devoted to tattooing ever since. Big Roob always says, “I didn’t get to where I am because I’m the best, I made it this far because I’m persistent & hard working.” His ambition and perseverance are what drove him to open “Good Pain Artworks” in his very hometown.
About 22 years ago, Ruben proposed a business plan to the City of Grand Prairie for a Tattoo & Piercing Shop named, “Grand Prairie Tattoos”. Unfortunately, the city rejected his proposal because tattoos & piercings were frowned upon during that time period. Ruben had a full-time job, working over 60 hours a week & still tattooed at home after work just to live out his dream of being a tattoo artist. All of the years that passed just made Ruben more determined to open the shop he’s always wanted, and that’s exactly what he did!
In 2022, Good Pain “GP” Artworks opened its doors to the public as a legitimate Tattoo & Body Piercing Shop. Since then, Ruben has become a full-time tattoo artist & shop owner. Alongside him is his daughter, Kati, who takes part in managing the shop & employees. Owning a business comes with its hardships but he says he wouldn’t have it any other way!

About Our Apprentice & Piercer
Amanda is native to Grand Prairie, TX & is Indigenous. She began her Apprenticeship under Ruben in late March of 2023, & has been an amazing hands-on learner. She’s been tattooing sporadically for about 15 years but started an apprenticeship to perfect her skills. She is also the piercer at Good Pain & has 10 years of experience. Apart from being an Apprentice & Piercer, Amanda is also a successful business owner -alongside her daughters- of cosmetic line, “Indigenous Beauty”. She’s always bringing in a different tumbler from her collection & loves to showcase the new ones she finds. Amanda is covered in tattoos from head to toe & has a meaningful reason for each one. Her bold and caring personality always keeps clients coming back for more. In the short time that she’s been with us, she’s had amazing feedback on all levels. Amanda is devoted to giving clients the best experience at Good Pain & we’re so happy she’s a part of our team!
